College Students on the Autism Spectrum:
Learning to Succeed on Your Own?

Call now to learn about my short term summer programs for college students! You decide what you want to work on and how many sessions you want to have.

Meet Your Goals!

Did you struggle academically last year?

Or socially?

Or just with being on your own?

Are you a new college student, not sure what to do now?

Are you just starting college?

Figuring out how to be independent from your parents, but still be connected?

Still struggling with transitioning to adulthood and independence?

Short term therapy can help!

College is a great experience, but it can be very challenging. For those  with Asperger's, autism, ASDs, or ADHD, college is a huge change from high school. Academics, social life, roommates, dating, making friends, and just figuring out how to manage all the details of college life can be tough. Mom and Dad can help, but you're growing up now. You might need something more than your parents.

Try therapy now!

Therapy doesn't have to be long term, or about re-examining every aspect of your childhood. We can accomplish a lot in just a short time.

You can learn practical life skills for college.
Things like:

How do you juggle all the demands on your time?
How can you be more organized?
How can you start dating?
How can you make more friends?
How can you get along with your difficult roommates?
How can you manage your moods, like anxiety, worries, sadness, depression, loneliness?
When should you ask your parents, and when should you try to figure it out on your own?
How else can you get help when you need it?

How do you get from student to adult??

Let's work together, and make a plan now, so next year is the best school year ever.

I'm Patricia Robinson, MS, MA, MFT, a licensed psychotherapist. I'm also an engineer, so I spent many years in college and over a decade in the corporate high tech world. Best of all, I am not your mom! I can help you figure out how to be a successful, independent college adult, and still be close to your family. I offer:

Therapy for Individuals with Asperger's, Autism, ADHD
Therapy for Adults, Teenagers, and Children

I especially enjoy working with college students.

A special note to parents of college students with Asperger's or autism:

Frequently, parents call me because they're concerned about how well their kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders or Aspergers will transition to college. Or, they're concerned because their child didn't do well in the previous year. Your child may be an adult, but he or she still needs you. At the same time, you're probably concerned about being too involved.

Young adults on the Autism Spectrum do have different needs than others, and your family has to meet special needs. Short term therapy can help your child and your family adapt to young adult life. I work to help young adults figure out how to thrive academically, manage organization and all the executive functioning needs of college life, manage a social and dating life, and live as a successful student. Most important, I can help your family create a strong system of family support, while still helping your child become independent.

Please call me to discuss how my services can help your college student.
